SKSi specialises in the various areas of civil and commercial mediation. Our independent mediation service is founded on a deep understanding and unparalled experience of both large and small businesses, operating in a huge number of sectors.
Employment Disputes
Employment Tribunal rulings can be unsatisfactory and participation can be expensive, both in terms of legal costs and management time. The process can often be a stressful one, particularly when drawn out by lengthy court proceedings.
Workplace Disputes
Workplace conflicts involving the breakdown of relationships between staff and managers or owners can be extremely damaging to a business. The use of mediation to resolve such issues is advantageous especially as it is conducted in complete confidentiality and will usually enable a working relationship to be maintained once agreement has been reached.
Civil & Commercial Disputes
Mediation is a flexible, quick and cost effective conflict resolution method for a variety of commercial issues. If successful, legal proceedings can be avoided and valuable business relationships or contracts preserved.
Such disputes may include:
- Breach of Contract
- Faulty goods or services
- Building Disputes
- Shareholder Disputes
- Partnership Disputes
- Debts
- Holiday Claims
- Intellectual Property
Insolvency
This area is also covered by commercial mediation, however, it is a highly specialised area requiring a detailed knowledge of the range of insolvency processes, including:
- Bankruptcy
- Liquidation
- Administration
- Company Voluntary Arrangement
- Individual Voluntary Arrangement
Choosing a mediator with the specific technical knowledge relating to your particular dispute can often be beneficial. We have an in depth knowledge of all of the above areas and, for that reason, we are in an excellent position to mediate on disputes of any nature relating to these areas or other insolvency related matters.
Mediation Fees
The mediator’s fees will be split equally between the parties unless otherwise agreed. Each party bears their own costs and expenses in relation to preparation for the mediation session/s and attendance.
The standard SKSi commercial and civil mediation package, for a full day's mediation, costs £2,500 (+ VAT) which is split 50/50 between the two parties, so each side pays £1,250 (+ VAT). This fee excludes expenses for mediator travel and facilities/room hire, if required, which would be agreed in advance and again split 50/50 between the two parties.
